My design ideas and advice: This design was one from a book I designed in 2008 for an American yarn distributor. It was a book of men’s design and was very well received. I’ve been waiting to update the patterns from that book for a few years now, to make them available to the UK knitters too as well as into digital pdf downloads.
As you can see I have always loved this type of stitch pattern. I’ve used variations of it in many other designs too, like the Leannan Jumper, Ravenscar Jumper, Ravenscar Cardigan and Hubberholme Jumper for kids, to name a few!
This jumper is knitted in pieces with seams and is a crew neck. If you wanted a turtle neck or polo neck then that is super easy to do, just pick up the stitches as written in the pattern and then keep knitting to your chosen length.
For this pattern I used:
Yarn & Amounts: 6(6:7:8:8:9) 100g hanks of WYS Bluefaced Leicester DK (100% Bluefaced Leicester wool, 225m/246yds per 100g)
Needles: 3.75mm knitting needles.
4mm knitting needles.
Gauge (tension): 24 stitches and 30 rows to 10cm/4ins square over garter stitch rib pattern using 4mm needles.
