Description

MY DESIGN IDEAS AND ADVICE
This design was inspired by a childhood memory of fishermen’s clothing – specifically modern smocks. With that in mind, I played around with simple yet effective stitch details to create a timeless look that’s also a joy to knit.

In the Purl &Jane Skipton studio, I often hear knitters say, “Ooh, I love that! I wish it was in an adult size.” Well, your wish is my command! The Ravenscar Jumper brings this design to grown-ups, so you can enjoy knitting (and wearing) it at any age.

CONSTRUCTION
The back, front and two sleeves are knitted flat from the bottom up in seperate pieces and joined together. The sleeves are drop. There is a button on the collar.

TECHNIQUES USED
Cast on, knit, purl, decreasing at neck shaping, increasing. Joining seams. Optional but recommended to create the feeling of joy when joining your pieces: three needle cast off and mattress stitch.

YARN
2(3:3:4:4) 100g hanks of WYS Bluefaced Leicester DK.
100% British Bluefaced Leicester wool, 225m/246yds per 100g

SUGGESTED KNITTING NEEDLES
4mm.

NOTIONS
One button.

GAUGE (tension)
22 stitches and 30 rows to 10cm/4ins square over narrow rib pattern. I obtained this gauge with 4mm needles.
It is important to obtain the correct gauge so do work a swatch before you start the pattern and change your needle size to achieve the correct gauge if you need to.
