MY DESIGN IDEAS AND ADVICE
These sheep are made with just two main pieces and two little ears – perfect for beginners and experienced knitters alike.
The sheep in the photographs are knitted in yarn that’s spun, dyed and made in Yorkshire from British wool, reflecting the county that Purl &Jane calls home.
You can make your sheep your own by choosing different yarns – perhaps a soft merino for an Australian sheep or a beautiful Italian yarn for an Italian one. Or why not create your own colourful flock of multi-coloured sheep?
CONSTRUCTION
The two pieces of the body are knitted from the bottom up in rows, the under body and the upper body. The two ears are also knitted separately. These are then joined together.
TECHNIQUES USED
Cast on, knit, purl, loop stitch, increase, decreasing, cast off. Joining seams. Optional but recommended to create the feeling of joy when joining your pieces: mattress stitch.
