Description

MY DESIGN IDEAS AND ADVICE
This pattern came about because knitters were asking me to turn the Danny Brow child’s jumper into an adult one – so ask and ye shall receive!

It’s a great one to play around with when choosing your shades, and I’ve loved helping knitters pick their colours. We start with a favourite shade and then add others to complement it.

I love this stitch pattern – it’s so addictive to knit.

CONSTRUCTION
The back, front and two sleeves are knitted flat from the bottom up in separate pieces and joined together. The sleeves are drop. The neck edge is picked up and knitted.

TECHNIQUES USED
Cast on, knit, purl, increasing, cast off. Optional but recommended to create the feeling of joy when joining your pieces: mattress stitch seaming and three needle cast off.

YARN
3(3:4:4:5) 100g hanks EACH of P &J Yorkshire Yarn Bluefaced Leicester DK in shade A, shade B and shade C.
100% British Bluefaced Leicester wool, 230m/251yds per 100g
I used Ecru for shade A, Biscuit for shade B and Chocolate for shade C.

SUGGESTED KNITTING NEEDLES
3.75mm and 4mm.

GAUGE (tension)
20 stitches and 38 rows to 10cm/4ins square over ridge striped pattern. I obtained this gauge with 4mm needles.
It is important to obtain the correct gauge so do work a swatch before you start the pattern and change your needle size to achieve the correct gauge if you need to.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
I recommend a positive ease of 6-8ins/15-20cm at the chest.
