MY DESIGN IDEAS AND ADVICE
Like all my patterns, these instructions are simple and easy to follow – making it easy to get addicted!
I designed these for my second Learn To Knit class, so they’re perfect for anyone wanting to learn to purl. The pattern is very easy to follow, making it ideal for beginners. For the more experienced knitters, these mittens are a quick and satisfying knit – great for using up any stash between projects or just as an excuse to try out a new gorgeous yarn.
CONSTRUCTION
Knitted flat in one piece from the bottom up with one seam.
TECHNIQUES USED
Cast on, knit, purl, cast off. Joining one seam. Optional but recommended to create the feeling of joy when joining your pieces: mattress stitch.
YARN
One 100g hank of P &J Yorkshire Yarn Bluefaced Leicester Aran.
100% British Bluefaced Leicester wool, 175m/191yds per 100g
This amount makes two pairs
SUGGESTED KNITTING NEEDLES
5mm.
GAUGE (tension)
17 stitches and 38 rows to 10cm square over garter stitch. I obtained this gauge with 5mm needles.
It is important to obtain the correct gauge so do work a swatch before you start the pattern and change your needle size to achieve the correct gauge if you need to.
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Approx. 17cm x 17cm.
