Description

MY DESIGN IDEAS AND ADVICE
This is one of my favourite designs – a super simple scarf that is wonderfully soothing to knit. It’s perfect for learners who are ready to try purl stitches, but if you’re completely new to knitting you can simply cast on, knit every row, cast off at the end and then sew the ends together.

For winter warmth, knitted in Bluefaced Leicester or any cosy aran yarn – it’s like wrapping yourself in comfort.

CONSTRUCTION
Knitted flat in one piece from the bottom up.

TECHNIQUES USED
Cast on, knit, purl cast off. Optional to join the cast on and cast off edge to create a cowl. To create the feeling of joy I recommended the mattress stitch when joining your edges together.

YARN
Two 100g hanks of P&J Yorkshire Yarn Bluefaced Leicester Aran.
175m/196yds per 100g

SUGGESTED KNITTING NEEDLES
5mm.

GAUGE (tension)
18 stitches and
24 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch. I obtained this gauge with 5mm.
It is important to obtain gauge so do swatch and change your needle size to achieve the correct gauge if you need to.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Approx. 21cm x 100cm.
Something to bear in mind when measuring – due to the natural of this stitch pattern it will get longer as it’s worn. When it’s on the needles it will be very ‘bouncy’ but once cast off will drop to a longer length as it’s worn or if it’s hung up.
