My design ideas and advice: I am super excited about this design! Usually I don’t share early in designing because it can take several goes before it works however it’s always good to do something familiar differently!
This design was inspired by a blurry picture of Princess Charlotte’s cardigan when she was a toddler. I didn’t know what stitch was used or what details it had and I didn’t want to know, as I was using it purely as inspiration.
I started by doing a tension square, drew a rough sketch of a design idea & then worked out how many stitches to cast on, based on my tension square & stitch repeat.
This design is also inspired by knitters who pop into my studio – they have asked for 4 ply baby cardigans – so here it is! This cardigan is knitted in one piece until the armholes.
