MY DESIGN IDEAS AND ADVICE
This is a great scarf for a beginner to learn to knit and to practise changing shades to create stripes. It’s also a super-quick project for an experienced knitter – something to relax with after a busy day or to ease the chatter of the mind.
All you need to know to knit this scarf is how to cast on, the knit stitch and cast off. I’ve made videos on these techniques to help you.
CONSTRUCTION
Knitted in rows from the bottom up in one piece.
TECHNIQUES USED
Cast on, knit, simple striping, cast off.
YARN
One 100g ball each of P&J Supermerino in shade A & shade B.
65m/71yds per 100g.
SUGGESTED KNITTING NEEDLES
9mm.
GAUGE (tension)
10 stitches and 18 rows to 10cm square over garter stitch. I obtained this gauge with 9mm needles.
It is important to obtain gauge so do swatch and change your needle size to achieve the correct gauge if you need to.
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Approx. 12cm (wide) x 140cm (long) for narrow & long version OR
Approx. 18cm wide x 100cm (long) for wide and short version.
