My design ideas and advice: This simple short sleeved cardigan is knitted a little bit differently to beautifully limit the seams. To knit this cardigan you start at the left front then knit the right front before joining them together to knit down the back. The only seams to sew up are the sleeve and side seams.
To keep the garter stitch even when joining the fronts to the back I’ve written into the instructions to knit along one front and then slip the stitches of the other front. It might sound complicated but it is a fun and easy cardigan to knit for the new arrival!
There aren’t any stitches to pick up too, which again makes this cardigan easy to knit.

If you love garter stitch and *not* picking up stitches then I have two other patterns that you might like to try, the Leighton Jacket and the Higgins Cardigan. Or if you wanted to try picking up stitches then the Ghyllas Cardigan is a great pattern to move forward with.
