My design ideas and advice: A simple cable looks so effective while at the same time being so exciting to knit! In this design I used two of my favourite cable patterns – one I call the honeycomb, I’m not sure if this is it’s ‘official’ name but it makes me think of bees and honey every time I see it, and the other the cable plait. This pattern evokes feelings of childhood and playing hairdressers and plaiting my sisters hair…..which then naturally progressed to finding scissors and properly playing hairdressers!!
For this pattern I used:
Yarn: 3(4:4:5:5) 100g hanks of WYS Bluefaced Leicester Aran (100% British Bluefaced Leicester Wool, 166m/182yds per 100g).
Metres (approx.): 490(590:660:760:820)m.
Needles: 4.5mm and 5mm.
Notions: Three buttons.
Gauge (tension): 28 stitches and 26 rows to 10cm/4ins square over middle cable pattern using 5mm needles.
