Description

MY DESIGN IDEAS AND ADVICE
Ada is a simple lace top with simple shapes – a lovely introduction to lace for knitters ready to try something new. With very little shaping, it’s perfect if you’re dipping your toes into lace knitting or if you just fancy an easy, relaxed project.

Ada is great for layering – wear it over a long-sleeved top on cooler days or pop it over a vest on those warmer, sunshine-filled ones. And because it’s knitted in pieces, it’s easy to adjust the length to suit your style – whether you fancy it longer or shorter.

A gentle, satisfying knit to add colour and texture to your wardrobe.

CONSTRUCTION
The back and front are knitted flat from the bottom up in separate pieces and joined together. The delicate neck and armhole edges are knitted at the same time as when knitting the back and front so no stitches to pick up.

TECHNIQUES USED
Cast on, knit, purl, simple lace pattern, decreasing, cast off. Joining seams. Optional but recommended to create a joy of joining your pieces: mattress stitch and three needle cast off.

YARN
6(7:7:8:9) 50g balls of Hjertegarn merino cotton dk.
50% merino wool & 50% cotton, 120m/131yds per 50g

SUGGESTED KNITTING NEEDLES
4mm.

GAUGE (tension)
22 stitches and 30 rows to 10cm/4ins square over chevron pattern. I obtained this gauge with 4mm needles.
It is important to obtain gauge so do swatch and change your needle size to achieve the correct gauge if you need to.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
I recommend a positive ease of 1-4ins/3-10cm at the chest.
