My design ideas and advice: I love this cable plait and try to use it wherever I can. This rib is another good one because I like to have a row off wherever possible – a row in the pattern where you can relax. In this rib, you have a knit row where you can relax, and in the cable you have the wrong side row where you don’t cable so you can relax here too. I think knitting should be relaxing so this combination works perfectly! And if you wanted an adult version then you’ll find one in my Simple Knits book!
For this pattern I used:
Yarn: 3(3:4:4:5) 100g hanks of WYS Bluefaced Leicester Aran (100% British Bluefaced Leicester Wool, 166m/182yds per 100g).
Metres (approx.): 400(490:580:660:750)m.
Needles: 4.5mm and 5mm.
Notions: 3(3:3:4:4) buttons.
Gauge (tension): 19 stitches and 28 rows to 10cm/4ins square over rib pattern using 5mm needles. 24 stitches and 32 rows to 10cm/4ins square over cable pattern using 5mm needles.
