MY DESIGN IDEAS AND ADVICE
This cardigan is designed to be oversized – and because of that, it’s cropped. Cropping it helps balance out the roomy fit, giving you that lovely oversized feel without being swamped.
It’s the DK version of the Farrimond Cardigan from the Purl &Jane Simple Knits book, but with a few little tweaks. Can you spot them all?
One change you might notice is the addition of pockets (always a win!) and I also altered the cable design ever so slightly. Just a few thoughtful details to enhance your knitting – and wearing! – enjoyment.

CONSTRUCTION
The back, front and two sleeves are knitted flat from the bottom up in seperate pieces and joined together. The sleeves are drop. The neck edge is picked up and knitted.

TECHNIQUES USED
Cast on, knit, purl, six simple cable techniques, decreasing at the neck shaping, pocket placements, cast off. Optional but recommended to create the feeling of joy when joining your pieces: mattress stitch seaming and three needle cast off.

YARN
11(12:14:15) 50g balls of Knoll Mohair Tweed.
70% merino wool & 30% mohair, 110m/120yds per 50g

SUGGESTED KNITTING NEEDLES
3.75mm circular needle :: 80cm or 100cm length.
4mm.

NOTIONS
4(4:4:5) buttons.

GAUGE (tension)
19 stitches and 32 rows to 10cm/4ins square over moss stitch. I obtained this gauge with 4mm needles.
It is important to obtain the correct gauge so do work a swatch before you start the pattern and change your needle size to achieve the correct gauge if you need to.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
I recommend a positive ease of 8-12ins/20-30cm at the chest.
