My design ideas and advice: These socks are perfect for those starting out on their fairisle journey. I teach fairisle workshops and wanted a pattern that was easy for knitters to start with. It can feel very overwhelming when looking at the many beautiful fairisle patterns out there on the internet. I wanted to create a simple pattern that knitters can relax with and just feel the joy of creating a fairisle pattern.
This pattern is also easy for experienced knitters to knit ‘without looking’ or they can add their own flourishes with colour changes.
It’s great to learn how to knit fairisle, and for beginners it’s definitely something you have to look at and not do when watching the tv (like my other patterns) but that makes it mindless knitting, the kind where you have to switch off and empty your mind of all those little ‘blahs’ and free it!
