My design ideas and advice: Like the Simple Chunky Cowl this pattern was designed for a Learn to Knit class, this time in 2022. While the Simple Chunky Cowl uses two balls of the Soft Donegal, this one uses four balls (two balls each in two shades).
I designed this one because knitters got addicted to the yarn and knitting so wanted to carry on knitting and make a long scarf.
I used block striped for the scarf to help with the feeling of completion. Some knitters loved the idea of knitting one block over a few evenings or week, it helped see progress rather than just having all one colour. I like to do this with all my ‘beginner’ scarves.

All you need to know, or learn, for this cowl is how to cast on, to do the knit stitch and to cast off. (I’ve included videos below to help)

For this pattern I used:

Yarn & Amounts: Two 50g balls each of Soft Donegal (100% Merino Wool, 63m/68yds per 50g) in shade A and shade B.

Needles: 6mm.

Gauge (tension): 14 stitches and 26 rows to 10cm/4ins square over garter stitch using 6mm needles.

Measurements: approx. 20cm (wide) x 120cm long.
