For this pattern I used:
Yarn & Amounts: Two 100g hanks of WYS Bluefaced Leicester DK – Undyed (100% Bluefaced Leicester wool, 225m/246yds per 100g) in shade A (02 Natural Light Brown).
One 50g ball of Mohair Tweed in shade B, shade C, shade D and shade E.
Metres for shade A: 450m.
Metres each for one dyed shade:112m.
My Alternative Yarn Suggestions & Amounts: WYS Illustrious Naturals DK 3(3:4:4:5) 100g hanks each of three shades.
Needles: 4mm.
Gauge (tension): 21 stitches and 40 rows to 10cm/4ins square over garter stitch using 4mm needles.
Measurements: 34cm wide x approx. 176cm.
My design ideas and advice: I designed this garter stitch scarf with beginners in mind. It is the easiest way to use different shades. You just knit the colourful shades until the ball runs out! The Natural Light Brown shade comes in 100g hanks so these two hanks are made into four 50g balls and then you can just knit and not think about it!
It’s also a great refresher project for experienced knitters, you know the kind that you can jsut pick up and put down without thinking about it. So the knitting does exactly what is should do, relaxes the mind with the simple soothing stitch.
