My design ideas and advice: This is another requested design. The request came from knitters who wanted to learn how to knit in the round. They wanted a simple, easy to knit pattern to try out their first knitted in the round garment.
A tank top is perfect to start this journey with. While for an experienced knitter this is a super quick knit to add texture and colour to your wardrobe. Its knitted ‘bottom up’ and I knitted that bit without thinking about it, just a few rounds here and there and before I knew it I had completed the first half of my tank top.
The short version is great to wear with dresses or a long shirt for those that do not want to bare their belly. Or there is a long version that is great to wear with trousers or skirts.
For this pattern I used:
Yarn & Amounts: 4(5:5:6:6) 50g balls of Mohair Tweed (70% merino/30% mohair, 110m/120yds per 50g) in shade A *and*
One 50g ball each in shade B and shade C for short version.
OR
5(6:6:7:7) 50g balls of Mohair Tweed for long version (knitted all in one shade).
Needles: 3.75mm circular needle 40cm length for neck & 40cm or 60cm length for armholes.
4mm circular needle. 80cm length for the first two sizes and 100cm for the last three sizes.
Gauge (tension): 19 stitches and 27 rows to 10cm/4ins square over stocking stitch using 4mm needles.
