My design ideas and advice: This is inspired by classic cables yet, as I do with all my designs, I worked on several swatches to make this an easy to knit cable. One, where once you were familiar with the repeats, you may sit and relax with it knowing when to cable and when to do your knits and purls. I love to design cable patterns that all have the same row repeat in them. The same row repeat means you can get to know what row to cable as I try to make this happen on all the techniques at the same time.
The neck is square, so there isn’t any tricky working out of how to decrease over the cables, and it gives the tank top another classic touch.
I love a good cable and this was fun to knit! I hope you find it fun too.
