Description

My design ideas and advice: This jumper is inspired by my total and absolute love of fisherman’s gansays. The history and why they were made is what knitting means to me – a personal hand knitted garment that keeps the wearer warm, dry and surrounded with a feeling of being loved while they work hard.
While this gansay is inspired by the traditional gansays it is not knitted in the traditional way – this one is knitted in my aran weight yarn and in flat pieces that are joined together.

For this pattern I used:

Yarn & Amounts: 8(9) 100g hanks of WYS Bluefaced Leicester Aran – Undyed (100% British Bluefaced Leicester wool, 166m/182yds per 100g).

Needles: 4.5mm and 5mm.

Gauge (tension): 18 stitches and 24 rows to 10cm/4ins square over stocking stitch using 5mm needles.
