Description

My design ideas and advice: This is a great My First Sweater project. It is knitted in pieces and uses the simplest of stitch techniques, garter stitch (all knit) and stocking stitch (knit one row, purl one row). The sleeves are dropped shoulder and because of this they are great on all body shapes, male or female. This pattern is a revised version of a hoodie I designed in my very first self published book that was released in 2003, (for the next ten years after that I self published over 70 books mainly for North America) It used yarn that is now discontinued and so for this version I used aran weight yarn instead as there are so many lovely ones to choose from. The lower part of the main body is in stocking stitch with the top of the body and the sleeves in garter stitch. Garter stitch is always my go to stitch technique that makes me feel calm.
A knitter who popped into the Skipton Studio said it is like wearing a blanket, cosy and comforting.

For this pattern I used:

Yarn & Amounts: 9(10:11:12:13) 100g hanks of  WYS Bluefaced Leicester Aran – Undyed (100%  Bluefaced Leicester, 166m/181yds per 100g)

Needles: 4.5mm and 5mm.

Gauge (tension): 18 stitches and 23 rows to 10cm/4ins square over stocking stitch using 5mm needles.
