Description

My design ideas and advice: This simple design is inspired by vintage patterns. It is a classic crew knit jumper, another request for knitters that visit my Skipton Studio. I love using stitches to create shape as we all have different body shapes and my knitted garments are magical – I design them so they fit your unique shape perfectly. All you need to do is get the correct tension and pick the correct size for you – and I can help you with this.
I collect vintage patterns, I love to read knitting patterns from last century. There are some terms which have not lasted the years and the majority only have one size. It makes me wonder how knitters approached these patterns, I am guessing that because knitting was taught in schools most knitters knew how to make their garments fit. Today patterns are written with many different sizes so there is no need to do any tricky maths! Just sit back and relax.

For this pattern I used:

Yarn & Amounts: 4(5:5:6:6) 100g hanks of WYS Bluefaced Leicester DK – Undyed (100% Bluefaced Leicester wool, 225m/246yds per 100g).

Needles: 3.75mm and 4mm.

Gauge (tension): 22 stitches and 28 rows to 10cm/4ins square over stocking stitch using 4mm needles.

Blog Post:  I’ve written two blog posts about the Dorothy Jumper, one explains what you need to knit it and the other is about my design inspiration.
