MY DESIGN IDEAS AND ADVICE
These mittens had been playing around in my head for a while before they finally made it onto the needles – like a lot of my designs. A beautiful new yarn had just come into the Purl &Jane Yarn Family and I knew it would be perfect to turn this idea into reality rather than just a dream. The Darnie 4 ply yarn is spun in Donegal and is such a joy to work with. But then, as always, I found myself looking at another yarn and thought it would make a perfect Chelsea Mitten too. The Spindrift, spun in Shetland, has different qualities that make it just right for chilly, windy days.
I love a simple design that lets the yarn sing. What I wanted from these mittens was something that covered my fingers when I was out walking with my dog or just out and about, but that I could fold down if I needed my fingers free – or if the weather changed, as it usually does here in Yorkshire!
There are two sizes: one for a small adult or teenager’s hand, and the other for an average adult hand.
