OK I have a problem.

Well… is it a problem? Is doing something that makes you feel good, relaxes your mind and creates something to keep you warm a problem?

My problem is I can’t stop knitting.

And I really want to share these new designs with you. Maybe that’s the problem. I finish a new design, then put it in the pile of designs to write a pattern for… and then cast on another new design, almost forgetting the ones I’ve just designed and knitted.

Until I look at the pile again and think, oh yeah… I loved knitting that new design… I should share that with all you lovely knits.

And then a yarn catches my eye, a new design pops into my head and I forget about the finished design again.

Whoops!

Some of the designs are at final check stage now, and I’ve been letting knitters who pop into the Skipton studio knit them – if they don’t mind knowing there might be a tiny final error that’s got through the first three or four checks, and the pattern doesn’t have a picture.

It’s been lovely to see their versions. I really must get on with doing those final final checks and sharing them with you…

…after I’ve cast on this next one!

So this week I’ve just finished designing a new hat in the Skipper wool. That was fun to knit with. So smooth.

I reknitted the crown about four times because I wanted the decreases to look effortless. And as always, simple easy-to-knit patterns take time.

I was at Yarnaholics and I ripped out the crown in front of another knitter. She looked quite concerned that I was ripping it out so much – but for me, it meant I could knit it again.

And that meant more stitches.
And that meant more relaxation for my head.
And I’ll feel better about the end result.

A win win win for me!

The other thing (again!) I’ve not done this week is take photos of what I’ve been doing. I just get carried away with the knitting.

And I also think it’s because no matter how well knitting is photographed, it just doesn’t do it justice. You can’t beat seeing it – and feeling it – in real life.

But obviously, if you can’t do that, then a photo is the next best thing… hopefully next week I’ll remember!

So, to sum up, this week I have mostly been knitting a new hat design in the Skipper wool.

It was such a fun knit that I want to cast on another one in a different shade… but then it’s also making me want to design a jumper pattern… or a cardigan…

…but I should really write up my notes into a pattern for you!
