I didn’t knit much last week, and I honestly can’t believe it! It must have been one of those busy weeks where other things took over. The darker evenings have definitely thrown me a bit too — I’ve been feeling tired earlier than usual, and the idea of a comfy bed and an early night has been hard to resist.
But this week, that’s all changed. The darker nights are actually perfect for some knitting. I knitted the pocket tops of the Ravenscar Cardigan and did the edgings. After the initial disappointment of having to redo it, that feeling quickly gave way to the soothing rhythm of the stitches.
And now, I’m so pleased I did it. The fronts look lovely, and if I’d left the mistake, it would have been all I saw every time I looked at it. That week of reknitting has been and gone, and what I have to show for it is both a relaxed mind and two fronts that are correct.
All the photos I’ve taken are real, not curated. This is how knitting looks when it’s fresh off the needles.
Here’s how the week went:

Tuesday – Knitted the pocket tops on both fronts while watching Jonathan Creek.
Wednesday & Thursday – Picked up and knitted one edging over two evenings.
Thursday & Friday – Picked up and knitted the other edging. I like to pick up the stitches in the studio where the light is good, then do the actual knitting in the evening under a cosy lamp. I’m not one for having the ‘big light’ on – I love that gentle evening glow!

Saturday – Picked up and knitted the neck edging. I forgot to add the buttonhole, so I had to take two rows back and redo it.

Now it’s time to join the sleeves to the body, which I’ll need good light for, so it’s gone back into a bag for now. Hopefully not for long – probably one of the most common things a knitter says as they put a project aside and reach for another!
