This week I’m officially back on the Max Waistcoat – and it feels so good to be making progress again.

I’ve started on the right front, which means I’m very nearly there! The excitement is building, and it’s been lovely to reconnect with this project after the gentle detour of the Pluto DK Socks.

One of the unexpected joys of this week was the way the knitting slotted so naturally into my everyday life. I had to take the car in for a service – normally the kind of errand that leads to aimless scrolling or wandering around looking at the cars for sale….and dreaming of that new car! I always think of taking my knitting but for some reason always forget it but this time I remembered and I packed my knitting.

And do you know what? It turned that ordinary waiting room experience into something a little bit magical – not to mention productive!
There’s something truly special about knitting in those in-between moments. You don’t mind if it takes a little longer than they said, because instead of wasting time, you’re using it. You have something to show for it – a finished piece, a few calm hours, a clear head. I left with the left front of the Max Waistcoat complete and a smile on my face.

And it didn’t stop there. Later in the week I took my knitting on the train too (because of course I did). Delays are never fun, but they’re a lot easier to bear with yarn in your hands. The rhythm of the stitches turns even a dull journey into something purposeful and peaceful.

So here we are, Week 5: the Max Waistcoat is firmly back on the needles, and I’m feeling refreshed and reconnected. I can’t wait to show you more soon. For now, I’ll keep knitting – on trains, in waiting rooms, wherever I can – and soaking up these little pockets of peace.
