OK, what project was I on?
This is what happens when I pick up another project and put the one I was doing into a bag – it gets tidied away, neatly out of sight, and then another gorgeous yarn catches my eye. Before I know it, I’m casting on something new!
But the whole point of these blogs is to keep me on track. So where was I? Dreaming about a new cast-on… wait, no! Finishing the project I started before the Yarndale bollard cover — a new design for a child’s hooded jacket.
Here’s how this week went:

Monday
I finished off the right front, then picked up the stitches for the hood. In the evening, I settled in and knitted a good amount – a very productive Monday!

Wednesday
At the Skipton studio, I turned a hank into a ball ready to pick up stitches for my Piccadilly Tank Top. But it turned into one of those sociable studio days where lovely people popped in to chat and get their next project, so I didn’t get to start on the finishing of the tank top. Instead, I added a few more rows to the hood – easier for a ‘knit and knatter’ session than concentrating on picking up stitches.

Thursday
Joined the hood edges and started to bring the jacket together. Always a satisfying stage!

Friday
Another hank into a ball – I must be on a roll (no pun intended, but it did make me chuckle). I also finally finished off a WIP that’s been sitting in a bag since before lockdown, using a discontinued yarn. It only needed about 15 minutes of knitting to complete, which made finishing it extra satisfying!

Saturday
The chunky hooded jacket is almost done – just a few final sewing-up bits to go. I loved knitting this design so much that I’ve done something I don’t usually do: cast on a second size myself, rather than waiting for my test knitters.

Sunday
A lazy, cosy Sunday at home. I stayed in, feeling snug, and finished the left front (here’s an image of the start, I forgot to take a photo of the completed one!) I did something new here too – starting with the left front instead of the back. Usually, I like to switch off while knitting the back, but the left front needs a bit more focus, and it suited the day perfectly.
It’s been a week of small but satisfying progress — the kind that reminds me why I love these projects so much. Next week, I hope to be finishing up the chunky jacket and deciding what to cast on next (though, as you can probably tell, that part never takes long!).
