Or you can use two strands of aran weight yarn held together.

Needles: 9mm.
Notions: Cushion pad to fit (approx. 35cm x 35cm)
Four buttons (size is approx. 32mm in diameter).
Gauge (tension): 9 stitches and 20 rows to 10cm/4ins over garter stitch using 9mm needles.
Measurements: 32cm x 72cm.
My design ideas and advice: This is the ultimate easy pattern. If you wanted to learn to knit or are looking to come back into knitting this is the perfect kickstarter – or gentlestarter!! Just cast on the stitches and knit and by the time you’ve got used to the needles and yarn you’ll be ready to do the very simple (simplest of simple) buttonholes.
And for the experienced knitter these are great for a quick knit to add colour to your home. I re-decorated my living room a while ago and realised that, while my sofa still worked with the colour scheme it needed new cushions to really add zing. I knitted my Simple Superchunky Cushion in an evening and had a few new cushions by the end of the week!
