My design ideas and advice: This is the very first Purl &Jane crocheted garment pattern! It uses the basic stitches in crochet, chain, double crochet and treble (UK terms obvs). All the ones I teach in the Purl &Jane Learn to Crochet workshops.
So just like my knitted designs this crochet pattern uses simple stitches to create classic timeless pieces that you can sit and relax with. That you can sooth a restless mind with.
This stitch pattern is a little like garter stitch, in that there isn’t a ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ side to the pattern as, because I did a 3 row repeat, both sides look the same.
Crochet is different from knitting because it doesn’t have the drape and stretch that a knitted fabric has. This means I have written the pattern with seven sizes so do double check the correct size for you. The pattern can be crocheted with negative ease, and this creates a corset look, or with positive ease to wear over a shirt.
For this pattern I used:
Yarn & Amounts: 6(6:7:7:8:9:9) 50g balls of Mohair Tweed (70% merino/30% mohair, 110m/120yds per 50g)
Hooks: 4mm and 4.5mm.
Gauge (tension): 20 stitches and 15 rows to 10cm/4ins square over pattern using 4.5mm hook.
