MY DESIGN IDEAS AND ADVICE
I love this stitch. It’s so simple to knit – but looks much more complicated than it is. Perfect for placemats and coasters, and it works beautifully in any shades to complement your kitchen, dining room or lounge.
They also make a thoughtful gift, especially for a new home.
CONSTRUCTION
Knitted flat in one piece from the bottom up.
TECHNIQUES USED
Cast on, knit, purl, slip stitch technique sometimes called mosaic colour work, cast off.
YARN
One 50g ball each of dk weight yarn in shades A, shade B and shade C.
This amount of yarn makes 3 mats and 6 coasters.
Metres for each shade: 115m/125yds.
SUGGESTED KNITTING NEEDLES
4mm.
GAUGE (tension)
32 stitches and 48 rows to 10cm square over pattern using 4mm needles.
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Mat 22.5cm x 20cm,
Coaster 10cm x 10cm.
