My design ideas and advice: I love knitting and I love to share this joy. I listen to knitters and try to find solutions to help them get onto their own wool journey. Most of my accessories are designed with this is mind and this pattern was designed because I have a garment design called Hannafore Blanket Coat in my Simple Knits book and this uses this cable technique. So I designed this cushion cover to help those knitters who hadn’t tried cable before yet wanted to knit the Blanket Coat but wanted to try out the cable before they started the garment.
It is one of my favourite cable patterns – a simple cable stitch that creates texture and depth to your cushion. Maybe it’s also my favourite because it is called honeycomb so it always makes me think of the hardworking bee. According to fisherman folklore it is said to be a lucky stitch for a plentiful catch. In the 8 row repeat there are only two rows where you are doing cables. The rest of the rows are simply knit and purl so you get plenty of chance to relax between the cable rows!
