Skills needed: You will need to know how to cast on, knit, purl and cast off.

I love sewing my knitted items together! I treat my knitted pieces as knitting and sew together as such, rather than treat them like cloth and then get disappointed with uneven edges. When you treat a hand knit as a hand knit, the picking up of stitches and sewing together is the most fun! I share these techniques in this class so sewing up becomes a joy.

Skills learnt: This full day class covers decreasing and increasing, how to pick up stitches, live stitches and reading your knitting, use different sewing up techniques for stocking stitch, garter stitch and moss stitch, join a cast off edge to a side seam; graft (live) stitches using (a) knitting needles and (b) a wool/tapestry needle; cast off buttonholes; and the importance of tension, substituting yarns and different plys of yarns.

Materials to bring:  Knitting needles (confirmed at time of booking), scissors, tape measure, darning needle and pen and paper if you wanted to make notes.

Refreshments are not included: During these current times and to keep the cost the same as the last few years please bring with you your own refreshments of hot drinks and lunch. Most peeps bring a flask with them and a packed lunch but there is time to get a takeaway at lunchtime & feel free to bring a takeaway coffee into the class.
