Our very own yarn collection

There are few things I love more than wool.

Not just knitting with it, but learning about it too. The different sheep breeds, the landscapes they come from, the way one fleece can behave completely differently from another on your needles.

That’s what inspired Yorkshire Yarn – our very own collection of British wool yarns.

The more I learnt about British wool, the more fascinated I became by just how much variety there is. Some breeds produce wool that’s soft and silky, some are wonderfully springy, some have a beautiful sheen and others create the sort of sturdy, hardworking fabric that lasts for years.

So rather than blending everything together, I wanted to curate a collection that lets each breed speak for itself.

All of the yarns are spun in Yorkshire and are left completely undyed, allowing the natural colours of the fleece to shine through. The creamy whites, soft greys, rich browns and deep charcoal shades all come directly from the sheep themselves.

Within the collection you’ll find some familiar favourites, including beautifully soft Bluefaced Leicester, alongside a range of British breeds that many knitters may never have worked with before.

Each one has its own personality. And that’s what makes exploring wool so much fun.

Whether you’re looking for a soft everyday jumper yarn, a rustic wool for a hard-wearing cardigan, or simply want to discover a breed you’ve never knitted with before, Yorkshire Yarn is an invitation to explore the remarkable world of British wool.
