This beautiful aran-weight wool is spun in Keighley, West Yorkshire – just outside of Bradford, in a town with its own rich wool and machine-making heritage. I once met someone who worked in the industry who told me that when wool production moved overseas, the well-made machines from Keighley and Bradford went with it and they are still in use today because they were that good! Whether that’s actually true or not, I love the idea of Yorkshire craftsmanship standing the test of time.

West Yorkshire Spinners (WYS) have brought spinning back to the region, producing exceptional wool with modern techniques while supporting British wool.
Same fleece, different finish – this aran-weight wool has a completely different feel from Jamieson’s Spindrift, even though it’s from the same Shetland sheep!
Versatile & warm, with fantastic stitch definition, perfect for cosy garments and textured knits.

West Yorkshire Spinners share a philosophy with Purl &Jane – reared, sheared and spun in Britain.

Situated near the original home of the British Worsted Spinning Industry, West Yorkshire Spinners combines state of the art technology with generations of expertise and unrivalled know-how to produce British hand knitting yarns of exceptional quality.

West Yorkshire Spinners are extremely proud of their British Heritage, they are one of the few remaining worsted spinning companies left in the United Kingdom. They firmly believe that knowing where their raw material comes from guarantees that the quality of the finished product is consistently high.

They source all their own raw material which is then produced into knitting yarn in their state of the art factory based in West Yorkshire.
