For this pattern I used:

Yarn & Amounts: One 50g ball of Soft Donegal (100% Merino Wool, 63m/68yds per 50g).

Metres: approx. 60m.

Needles: 6mm.

Gauge (tension): 14 stitches and 26 rows to 10cm/4ins square over garter stitch using 6mm needles.

Measurements: approx. 15cm x 15cm.

My design ideas and advice: I designed these for my Learn To Knit class, so they are perfect for beginners! Sometimes when you start something it can seem scary or overwhelming so I thought what can we do with one ball of yarn. So that the beginner can relax and just chose one ball, cast on and then see if they like it without feeling overwhelmed with lots of balls or lots of stitches. So what can you do with one ball of chunky yarn? Make a pair of fingerless mittens of course!
And for experienced knitters, these are great for a quick knit to use up any stash or to try out the beautiful Soft Donegal, for those evenings when you think I’m gonna need to keep my hands warm tomorrow and need something to go with my new coat! Or when you don’t have a new coat and what something to give your old coat a new lease of life!
Or like me you realise you need your fingers free to give treats to your dog and it’s suddenly turned chilly so those mittens are need quickly!
