My design ideas and advice: This pattern was designed in 2019 for a Learn to Knit course. The course was over a few Sundays so I wanted to have something super easy and fun to knit with a couple of balls of the beautiful Soft Donegal Chunky yarn.
All you need to know, or learn, for this cowl is how to cast on, to do the knit stitch and to cast off. (I’ve included videos below to help)
I chose two shades for the cowl because I wanted to make it really clear for beginners that you only needed two balls to complete this cowl. It’s easy to see that as experienced knitters but not so much for those that haven’t knitted.
And while I’m mentioning experienced knitters, this cowl is a fab quick project (I’d say it takes an evening or two) to get a cowl knitted for yourself as an emergency warmth giver or fro last minute presents.

For this pattern I used:

Yarn & Amounts: One 50g ball each of Soft Donegal (100% Merino Wool, 63m/68yds per 50g) in shade A and shade B.

Metres: approx. 126m.

Needles: 6mm.

Gauge (tension): 14 stitches and 26 rows to 10cm/4ins square over garter stitch using 6mm needles.

Measurements: approx. 22cm (wide) x 56cm.
