My design ideas and advice: The hood on this simple jacket is perfect for keeping little heads and necks warm on chilly days, but easy for them to take off if they want to. Best of all it’s always there when they want it on again so you don’t need to look everywhere to find it! I designed this hooded jacket because of my love of garter stitch and this style of jacket, I noticed the other day that this style is a favourite of mine as I have designed a few adult garments like this too! It’s great for beginners because although you have the details of the buttons, there aren’t any edges to pick up!
There is also the option to knit this jacket without the hood in the pattern. So if you are not sure if you can pick up stitches you can knit the “without” version and then always knit the hooded version when you are ready.
