For this pattern I used:
Yarn & Amounts in superchunky weight yarn: One (Two) 100g balls of Purl &Jane Supermerino (100% merino wool, 65m/71yds per 100g)
Yarn & Amounts in aran weight yarn: One 100g hank each of WYS Croft Shetland Aran (100% Shetland wool, 166m/182yds per 100g) in shade A and shade B. The two strands of aran are held together when knitted. This amount of yarn will make two short version hats.
Gauge (tension): 10 stitches and 18 rows to 10cm square over garter stitch using 9mm needles.
If using the Supermerino you only use one strand of yarn to get this gauge. If using aran weight yarn you will hold two strands together to get this gauge.
Size: To fit adult head.
My design ideas and advice: This is a great quick and simple knit, a great project for beginners or a quick weekend project for experienced knitters who need a moment or two of pure simple stitches. For experienced knitters it’s great for using up yarn from your aran stash or you can treat yourself to a beautifully soft merino superchunky.
