My design ideas and advice: The perfect pattern for learning to knit in the round or great for experienced knitters to whizz up a hat in a weekend. The Kura Hat is great for men and women. This hat is the baby sibling to my Caspian Hat design and I designed this because I was asked to by knitters that visit my Skipton design studio. I was asked for a dk version of the Caspian Hat (this original hat is knitted in aran, so if you have come to this page loving the look of the hat but wishing it was aran weight then click on the link above and have your wish granted!)
However I like to make my designs different from each other, even if it’s a simple small change so while the Caspian Hat is knitted flat and then sewn together, the Kura Hat is knitted in the round on short circular needles and then you change to double pointed needles at the crown. If you are new to circulars this can seem tricky but it is SO MUCH easier and more fun than you might first think. When you finish shaping the crown you have finished your hat and there is no seam to sew up. So just pop that hat on your head as soon as you finish knitting!

For this pattern I used:
