My design ideas and advice: The original yarn for this pattern was Skipton Swaledale, the second exclusive Purl and Jane Yorkshire yarn. It had limited availability. It had unique qualities that made it very individual. When I received the Skipton Swaledale from the spinners I played around with different stitch techniques and found the perfect one for this bag. It’s one of my favourite textures – the chevron. I designed the bag because I wanted a small bag to carry around my purse and phone in, I knitted a short strap but it’s easy to continue knitting the strap until it is your desired length – obviously this means more yarn might be needed than is suggested here. I’ve since used the Jacob Aran to knit this bag and it has similar qualities to the original yarn so makes the perfect substitute.
