For this pattern I used:

Yarn: Two 50g balls each of Jacobs Aran (100% British Jacobs Wool, 166m/182yds per 100g) in shade A and shade B.

Metres of each shade: Approx.160m.

Needles: 5mm.
Gauge (tension): 18 stitches and 24 rows to 10cm/4ins square over stocking stitch using 5mm needles.

Measurements: (before felting) 40cm/16ins x 40cm/16ins.

My design ideas and advice: The yarns used in the photograph are variegated, which are now discontinued, however if you have visited my Skipton Studio you may have seen my undyed natural version in the Jacob Aran. I’ve also helped knitters choose colours in the Kilcarra Tweed to make a colourful striped one. The bag is also perfect for using up odd balls in several different shades to create a unique bag. If you wanted to felt it remember to choose natural wool fibres that haven’t been super wash treated. This is a simple pattern that is great for trying out felting and is the perfect bag for carrying your knitting projects!
