My design ideas and advice: This is a fun stitch to do. It is a magical stitch! You are only using one colour in the row, even though it looks like you are using two at the same time. You are not, just the one, such fun!
I love hearing about individual knitting stories: how people started knitting, what their grandmothers, mothers, aunts used to knit and I hear tales of grandfathers, fathers and uncles knitting too. This jumper is inspired by fisherman jumpers, not perhaps the traditional Guernseys, but ones in my own family history where my relatives wore similar jumpers while living by the seaside and fishing for leisure. To create a smooth stitch, I recommend that you s1 purlwise in this pattern.
