Ravenscar Jumper Pattern

My design ideas and advice: This is a simple dropped sleeved jumper with a crew neck that can be knitted as long or short as you want it to be. I was inspired by woven fisherman smocks so my neckline is to the length I associate with these. People that pop into the Purl &Jane studio often comment on my children’s designs and say I’d knit that one if there was a pattern for an adult size. And slowly I have been designing the children’s patterns for adults. I say designing and not grading up because it’s not always as simple as purely adding extra stitches because if it was then we’d never need to write patterns for different sizes! So the Ravenscar jumper is designed to be an adult version of the Hubberholme Jumper, which I have been asked for many times. This jumper was inspired by my love (or you could say obsession!) for the seaside and the tradition of fishermen’s gansays – or guernseys as they are also known.

For this pattern I used:
