For this pattern I used:

>Yarn & Amounts: Two 50g balls of  Mohair Tweed. (70% Merino Wool 30% Mohair, 110m/120yds per 50g)

Metres: 140m.

My Alternative Yarn Suggestions & Amounts: WYS Bluefaced Leicester DK – Dyed Two 50g balls or WYS Illustrious Naturals DK One 100g hank.

Needles: Set of four 3.75mm double pointed needles.

Gauge (tension): 21 stitches and 40 rows to 10cm square over pattern using 3.75mm needles.

Size: to fit average adult hand.  Length from cuff to top is 21cm. This is when not stretched; it stretches to 27cm.

My design ideas and advice: These mittens are knitted in the round on double pointed needles and the pattern is written for dpns. They are great for those wanting to get used to double pointed needles as the only tricky bit is the thumb. I love the ridge on the mittens, I’ve used this stitch pattern on a few of my patterns and I’m sure I will continue to use them on more in the future!
I named this pattern Tra because it is the Irish for beach and the ridges remind me of the ridges the sea makes on the beach as it laps the shore. The Mohair Tweed is a gorgeous yarn to knit with, it has colours that twinkle at you as you knit each stitch.
