My design ideas and advice: I designed this scarf before I opened the Purl &Jane studio for a pattern book. I had tried other variations before I settle on this stitch pattern and ever since I have been addicted to it. It wasn’t until two years after I designed the Spencer Scarf that I opened the studio and the joy of that is seeing all your Spencer Scarf creations. The shades you picked and how they turned to is forever fascinating because it doesn’t matter how you think the colours are going t behave you just never know until you knit it!
I like all my patterns to be simple to knit and this is indeed a simple knit, yet it looks so complicated. It excites me how the stitch patterning works with the three row striped pattern.
I like all my scarf patterns to work on both sides so that the ‘reverse’ looks just as good as the ‘right side’ if there was one. And this is true of the Spencer Scarf, I love the smooth stitches on one side and the texture on the other side.
This is why I love knitting, small simple details can create an impressive look!

For this pattern I used:

Needles: 4mm.
