My design ideas and advice: This hat pattern is another pattern that is great for those that haven’t knitted cables before. It is a 6 row repeat where you can have a ‘row off’ on the wrong side and then do the cable on the right side. The perfect way I like to knit as there is relatively complicated stitches on one side and then easy ones on the other side.

I’ve named the cable on this hat heart because to me the cables look like intertwining upside down hearts.  They are pouring all their love on to the hat wearer. I have a few cable designs that I prefer and this is one of them. I love the way the stitches seem to travel across the knitting and then join together like they are coming together for a kiss!

For this pattern I used:

My Yarn Suggestion & Amounts: One 100g hank of WYS The Croft Shetland Aran (100% Shetland wool, 166m/182yds per 100g).

Metres: 166m.

Needles: 4.5mm and 5mm.

Notions: Cable needle.

Gauge (tension): 25 stitches and 26 rows to 10cm square over cable pattern when slightly stretched using 5mm needles.

Size: to fit average size head.
