My design ideas and advice: I designed this cushion for my March 2019 retreat. On the Saturday we used the intarsia technique. This is “picture” work where you gently twist your yarn on the wrong side of your work and do not take your yarn across the back when using other shades. When I was designing the pattern I tried lots of different variations because I wanted it to be as simple as possible for knitters to try – this doesn’t always mean easy, there might be tricky moments then once the tricky moments are behind you, it will be simple to follow. Experienced knitters would easily be able to complete a square in one class, while beginners or those new to intarsia would take a little longer but would get the basic techniques. So my Dell Cushion is made up of squares, you will need to knit eight squares to make a back and front for one cushion. Or you can do what I did with one of my squares and pop it into the washing machine, I put mine in with some towels and created a coaster. It is a daily reminder of the marvellous March retreat.
