For this pattern I used:
Yarn & Amounts: Two 50g balls of dk weight yarn in shade A.
One 50g ball each of dk weight yarn in shade B and shade C.
The mittens use the leftover yarn from the hat.
Metres for shade A: approx. 180m.
Metres for each of shade B and shade C: approx. 90m.
My Yarn Suggestion and Amounts: Mohair Tweed Two 50g balls in shade A and One 50g ball each in shade B and shade C or a beautiful natural one with – WYS Bluefaced Leicester DK – Undyed or Illustrious Naturals DK One 100g hank each in shade A, shade B and shade C.
Needles: 3.75mm and 4mm.
Gauge (tension): 22 stitches and 30 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch using 4mm needles.
Size: To fit average adult head and hands.
My design ideas and advice: I love the reindeers dancing around the hat all excited for the coming festive season, while keeping your head lovely and warm on those winter walks. After I finished the hat, I still had enough yarn left over to make the mittens – perfect for knitters who want to try out fair isle knitting.
