My design ideas and advice: I designed this hat because I wanted to use my two favourite stitches, moss stitch and the rib I first used on the Caspian Hat I love moss stitch. But since I’ve had my shop I’ve found out that not everyone does! I love the rhythm of taking the yarn back and forwards between the two needles to create the texture. I love how a purl stitch sits over a knit stitch and creates a different look. It’s why I am so passionate about knitting because these two stitches, knit and purl are all you need to create an infinite amount of stitch patterns. And this one of the first. An easy one but so effective.

For this pattern I used:

Yarn & Amounts: One 100g hank of WYS Bluefaced Leicester Aran – Undyed (100% British Bluefaced Leicester wool, 166m/182yds per 100g).

Metres: 160m.

Needles: 4.5mm and 5mm.

Gauge (tension): 18 stitches and 28 rows to 10cm square over moss stitch using 5mm needles.

Measurements: To fit your head.
