My design ideas and advice: The hat was knitted as a request from a friend, and I gifted the Bempton Mittens to go with the hat too. The stitch pattern I used for this hat is one of my favourites, I have used it on a few other items and will keep using it because I love knitting it! I hope you do too.
This hat has been so much fun to knit! But I made it even more fun by mixing it up and I used one strand of aran and one strand of mohair luxe held together. I really enjoyed the feel and look of these two fibres together. The hat is designed with just in one strand of aran weight yarn, but does work well with the mohair added.

For this pattern I used:

Yarn & Amounts: One 100g hank of WYS Bluefaced Leicester Aran – Undyed (100% British Bluefaced Leicester wool, 166m/182yds per 100g).

Needles: 5mm.

Notions: Cable needle.

Gauge (tension): 22 stitches and 32 rows to 10cm square over cable pattern when slightly stretched using 5mm needles.

Measurements: to fit average size head.
