My Alternative Yarn Suggestions & Amounts: Illustrious Naturals DK approx. three 100g hanks for shade A and two 100g hanks for shade B, or WYS Bluefaced Leicester DK – Undyed approx. three 100g hanks for shade A and two 100g hanks for shade B.
Measurements: Each square measures approx. 20cm x 20cm.
The finished blanket size is approx. 82cm x 82cm (4 x 4 squares).
My design ideas and advice: This simple crochet blanket uses the basic granny square as it’s inspiration and then I’ve played around with the structure to create a more solid square. I used the beautiful Mohair Tweed for my blanket and it’s been fun helping peeps choose colours to fit their interiors. This pattern is one of eight patterns that I designed to launch especially at Yarndale 2017 along with the Mohair Tweed which was also just launched that year. The yarn is spun in Donegal so I named all the patterns using Irish words, Aimsir (AM-shir) is the Irish word for weather, time, season – elements that surround us, like a blanket.
